Applicable Transfer Credit Hours

This transfer advising guide provides 69 college-level hours, of which 64 will transfer and apply, as EDUC 1300

and 2 SCH of MATH 1314 will transfer, but will NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University - Central Texas

baccalaureate degree in Biology.

Note: Texas A&M University - Central Texas accepts a maximum of 68 college-level hours in transfer towards a

baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their

degrees.

Students may still take the following Texas A&M University - Central Texas degree required course:

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students

should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising

Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS

Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for

assistance.

Field of Study Curriculum for Biology

The Field of Study (FOS) curriculum for Biology is for students who are seeking a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of

Science (BS) degree with a major in Biology, including all biology specializations.  The field of study curriculum has been

approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

Program Entry Requirements

Students will be admitted into the Biology major by the faculty once the application criteria are met. To be accepted into the

Biology program, students must:

Have an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Pay close attention to course sequencing and availability at Texas A&M University - Central Texas as it will affect the

time it takes to complete the degree program.

Transfer of Credit

Community college courses may not transfer into TAMUCT as upper-division courses (3000-4000 level), even though

TAMUCT may have an upper-division course with exactly the same name and description. Community college courses may

not be used to fulfill the 45-hour upper-division requirement for graduation at TAMUCT. However, the course may be used

as a substitute for an upper-division course with an approved substitution form signed by the chair and dean.

Affordability

Based on 2019-2020 reported average tuition and fees, Texas A&M University-Central Texas is the second most affordable

institution in the state of Texas for full-time undergraduate students.  Students are not only able to take advantage of

guaranteed tuition plans to control the cost of their education, but A&M-Central Texas's Bachelor Bonus caps tuition and

Texas Education Code § 54.014 specifies that resident undergraduate students who initially enrolled fall 1999 and later

may be subject to a higher tuition rate for attempting excessive hours at any public institution of higher education while

classified as a resident student for tuition purposes. For more information, please see
